Build the Car
Students assemble the chassis, connect the motors, and design the layout so every component has a purpose.
June 14 - June 28 · Ages 10-15
Students build an ESP32-powered RC car, wire the electronics, and create a browser-based control system that drives real hardware.
Students use the ESP32 as the brain of the RC car, learning how a microcontroller can receive commands and control real hardware.
Students learn how the car creates or connects to a network so a phone or computer can send driving commands through a browser.
Students wire and test motors, then program speed and direction controls so the car can move, turn, stop, and respond reliably.
Students explore voltage, resistance, power, and safe wiring choices while troubleshooting the electrical system inside their build.
Students read and create simple circuit diagrams so they can understand how each component connects before building the physical car.
Students write code that connects the web controls to the ESP32, practicing logic, debugging, and testing with immediate real-world feedback.
What Students Learn
Students assemble the chassis, connect the motors, and design the layout so every component has a purpose.
They program commands that travel from a web page to the ESP32, turning code into movement they can test immediately.
The workshop introduces voltage, resistance, potentiometers, and troubleshooting through hands-on circuit work.
On the final day, students test their cars in a friendly competition and refine their designs based on performance.
Workshop Schedule
The first week of the workshop is dedicated to establishing students' understanding of electrical engineering, microcontrollers, Wi-Fi and access points, and motor controls. The second week is dedicated to students building the actual Web-Controlled RC Lab Car and competing against each other in a race.

Students learn how to bring their own concepts to life, building the confidence to create, experiment, and problem-solve on their own. When the workshop is done, they take home the web-controlled RC lab car and the other projects they built from scratch.
